In my last blog, we discussed “Installing Oracle 11g on Cloud (EC2 instance RHEL\/Centos 6.x) through command line<\/a>“.<\/p>\n

Now it\u2019s time for some Windows action. In this blog, we will discuss how we can “Enable multiple RDP sessions on Windows 2008 & 2012 R2”.<\/p>\n

Whenever we do an installation of Windows host on AWS Cloud<\/a>, by default we get 2 Administrative logins. But only 2 logins cannot be enough for a large enterprise, you will definitely need more than that.<\/p>\n

So the question comes next is how to enable more administrative logins.<\/p>\n

Let me give you a walk down of simple steps involved in enabling the same:<\/p>\n

1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Go to Server Manager<\/strong> in the search option tab. Select Add Roles<\/strong> for installing the Remote Desktop Services<\/strong> Role.<\/p>\n

2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After installing the role,\u00a0reboot<\/strong> the instance for changes to take effect.<\/p>\n

3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now go to Administrative Tools <\/strong>\u00e0<\/strong> Remote Desktop Services <\/strong>\u00e0<\/strong> Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration <\/strong><\/p>\n

4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Locate “Restrict each user to a single session<\/strong>” and right click to find\u00a0Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Remove<\/strong> the tick from “Restrict each user to a single session<\/strong>” >\u00a0Apply<\/strong>>\u00a0OK<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

6)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now select Connections RDP-Tcp\u00a0<\/strong>& go to Properties.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

7)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In Properties,<\/strong> go to Network Adapter\u00a0<\/strong>& specify the Maximum number of connections<\/em> you would like to have e.g here I have taken the value as 10.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

8)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Go to Start <\/strong>> in the search\/run box type regedit<\/strong><\/p>\n

Or Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Terminal Server.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Now, locate the fSingleSessionPerUser<\/strong> value > Set it to 0<\/strong> (Multiple sessions allowed)<\/p>\n

9)\u00a0\u00a0Start\u00a0<\/strong>> in the search\/run box type gpedit.msc<\/strong><\/p>\n

10)\u00a0 Navigate to:
\nComputer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Remote Desktop Services > Remote Desktop Session Host > Connections<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n

Locate the “Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session<\/strong>” setting.<\/p>\n

11)\u00a0 Now go to Edit Policy Setting\u00a0<\/strong>& set it to Disabled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

12)\u00a0 Now Reboot<\/strong> the server & it\u2019s done.<\/p>\n

Note :<\/strong> Multiple RDP sessions will only work for a default trial period of 120 days but in case you want them for a longer period, you need to purchase licenses to support the same.<\/p>\n
