In this blog, we will discuss how we can &#8220;Enable multiple RDP sessions on Windows 2008 &amp; 2012 R2&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Whenever we do an installation of Windows <a title=\"devops in aws\" href=\"http:\/\/www.tothenew.com\/devops-aws\">host on AWS Cloud<\/a>, by default we get 2 Administrative logins. But only 2 logins cannot be enough for a large enterprise, you will definitely need more than that.<\/p>\n<p>So the question comes next is how to enable more administrative logins.<\/p>\n<p>Let me give you a walk down of simple steps involved in enabling the same:<\/p>\n<p>1)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Go to <strong>Server Manager<\/strong> in the search option tab. Select <strong>Add Roles<\/strong> for installing the <strong>Remote Desktop Services<\/strong> Role.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-1.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11503\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-1.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"626\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11504\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-2.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"273\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>2)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 After installing the role,\u00a0<strong>reboot<\/strong> the instance for changes to take effect.<\/p>\n<p>3)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Now go to <strong>Administrative Tools <\/strong><strong>\u00e0<\/strong><strong> Remote Desktop Services <\/strong><strong>\u00e0<\/strong><strong> Remote Desktop Session Host Configuration <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>4)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Locate &#8220;<strong>Restrict each user to a single session<\/strong>&#8221; and right click to find\u00a0<strong>Properties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11505\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-3.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"387\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>5)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Remove<\/strong> the tick from &#8220;<strong>Restrict each user to a single session<\/strong>&#8221; go to <strong>Properties.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-5.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11507\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-5.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"305\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>7)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In <strong>Properties,<\/strong> go to <strong>Network Adapter\u00a0<\/strong>&amp; in the search\/run box type <strong>regedit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Or Navigate to <strong><em>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\\SYSTEM\\CurrentControlSet\\Control\\Terminal Server.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Now, locate the <strong>fSingleSessionPerUser<\/strong> value &gt; in the search\/run box type <strong>gpedit.msc<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>10)\u00a0 Navigate to:<br \/>\n<strong><em>Computer Configuration &gt; Administrative Templates &gt; Windows Components &gt; Remote Desktop Services &gt; Remote Desktop Session Host &gt; Connections<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0<a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-8.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11510\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"236\" \/><\/a><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Locate the &#8220;<strong>Restrict Remote Desktop Services users to a single Remote Desktop Services session<\/strong>&#8221; setting.<\/p>\n<p>11)\u00a0 Now go to <strong>Edit Policy Setting\u00a0<\/strong>&amp; set it to <strong>Disabled<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-9.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-11511\" src=\"\/blog\/wp-ttn-blog\/uploads\/2014\/01\/Enable-multiple-RDP-sessions-on-Windows-2008-2012-R2-9.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"628\" height=\"347\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>12)\u00a0 Now <strong>Reboot<\/strong> the server &amp;
