In this unprecedented time, organisations have pulled up their sleeves to tackle pandemic induced challenges. Employees’ wellbeing is the foremost issue to address and becomes more so when people are confined within the boundaries of their home. Taking this into consideration, TO THE NEW, a technology firm providing digital transformation and product engineering services, initiated several programmes for its workforce.

Speaking on the same, Satya Sharma, CHRO, TO THE NEW, said, “Mental health illness has always existed, Covid has just aggravated the problem. There is a lack of social connection in these times. TO THE NEW started programmes way back five years to address this issue. We have a concept of HR partners, wherein one HR person is aligned to 150-200 ‘newers’.”

The programme is not a one-time benefit to enrol on; rather it remains with the employees until they leave the organisation. Once an employee joins the company and till he/she finds an opportunity somewhere else, the assigned HR person is constantly in touch with a specific number of employees.

Recently, TO THE NEW collaborated with one of the leading telehealth apps 'Doctor Insta' to provide the best of healthcare to its employees in these challenging times. Under this initiative, the employees, internally referred to as ‘Newers’, are entitled to free e-consultation for them as well as for their family members (up to 5) across nine health branches; can book lab tests and get samples collected from home, and also order medicines online.

Democratization in queries redressal mechanism

Unlike a typical organisation, TO THE NEW gives its employees several options to address and solve their queries. They can reach out to other personnel apart from senior management irrespective of their hierarchical positions, said Sharma.

The organisation is also providing Facebook's version of the workplace in addition to planning tips for yoga, health, stress, etc. It has also developed its own chat box wherein people can connect to solve basic queries.

“We have also been organising routine workshops focussed on yoga and mindful meditation that has seen healthy participation," said Sharma.

The organisation offers other “bouquets of employee benefits where they can choose from irrespective of their position in the workplace,” he added.

Believing in the slogan of ‘Happy employee leads to happy customer’, TO THE NEW’s employee wellness initiatives are being well appreciated by the workforce and around 150 certifications have been done under the learning programme, claims Sharma.
